Retinal Photography

Much more than just an eye test

With retinal photography we can give advanced screening for diseases including glaucoma, diabetes & macular degeneration.
All for just £25, including dilation, if needed.

The health of your eyes matters to you. It matters to us too, which is why we are offering a new way to check for potentially serious conditions that can affect not only your eyes but your overall well-being.

Using a state of the art retinal camera, our optometrists will take a digital photograph of the back of your eye. This allows us to instantly diagnose a number of common conditions. The procedure is non-invasive, painless, simple and quick.

Why should I have this test?

In glaucoma, diabetes and some forms of macula disease early diagnosis greatly improves the success rate of treatment. The incidence of all three increases with age. We can also look at the condition of the small blood vessels at the back of the eyes. The image that we see is larger than the one we see with conventional ophthalmoscopy and the image will be stored in our computer. This gives us an invaluable ongoing record of the health and condition of your eyes.

What happens next?

We carry out photography at the time of your sight test or shortly afterwards.

If you wish to have a photo taken please speak to reception when booking and also when you arrive for your appointment.

If time permits, and drops are not needed, photos will be done at the time of the sight test. However, in some cases, where the pupils are small, drops will be needed for this procedure. If this is the case, we will arrange for you to come back on another day.

Should you require any further information, please speak to the optometrist at your eye examination.
